Launch Housing has an ambitious and singular mission to end homelessness. We aim to get people housed, keep them housed, and be an influential voice on ending homelessness. Formed in 2015 following a merger of two well-respected agencies - Hanover Welfare Services and HomeGround Services, we are a secular, independent provider of choice for clients and the ‘go to' organisation on homelessness for government, media, philanthropy, private donors and the community.
We are currently seeking a passionate Support Worker to join the dedicated team at our South Melbourne site, supporting families living in our crisis accommodation and in the community. The South Melbourne site includes 7 on-site self-contained units, and a number of off-site units, for families for up to three months. The service includes support in securing and maintaining medium to long-term housing and tailored support for parents and children. It provides specialist services for vulnerable children and families (including the Homeless Children's Specialist Support Service). The South Melbourne site is staffed during regular business hours, with occasional evening programs.
The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Social Work or a related discipline with experience in the social welfare sector and social policy/client support frameworks, working with clients who have complex needs, due to experiencing significant challenges e.g. trauma, mental health, substance use, family violence. The successful candidate will have experience providing case management support with an emphasis on practical assistance to maintain housing and an in-depth understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context, and systems.
Working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that uses innovative housing practices, this exciting and challenging position offers applicants the opportunity to build and empower the lives of people experiencing homelessness.
